Assistant Sales Manager

Ardel Steel has established a solid reputation in the fabrication, distribution and installation of reinforcing steel and related products in Saskatchewan.  We are seeking a motivated individual for the position of Assistant Sales Manager at our Saskatoon location. 

Position Summary:

    Reporting to the Assistant Branch Manager, this position will perform a number of duties related to estimating and sales.  Their primary responsibility is to apply competitive pricing to projects while maintaining company profitability.  Building relationships with the construction community to ensure that Ardel Steel is the supplier of choice.

    Position Functions:

    • Apply competitive pricing to all projects while maintaining company profitability
    • Generate contract sales to meet or exceed budget (cold calls and follow-up on quotes)
    • Investigate & acquire tender documents for upcoming projects
    • Investigate and communicate any potential sales opportunities
    • Negotiate contract sales with clients
    • Source and gather pricing for special order materials
    • Provide professional reinforcing steel estimates that are accurate, complete and qualified
    • Maintain quotation tracking by following up & investigating the status of all projects bid
    • Work closely with administrative staff to create & manage contract, miscellaneous contract, and drafting office files including contract revisions
    • Work closely with Sales, Production, Installation and safety to ensure they are fully aware of the project scope for estimation purposes
    • Serve as Sales Contact for this Ardel Steel location
    • Provide back up support to Sales Manager

    • Minimum Grade 12 Education with a preference to any post-secondary education or technical diploma related to engineering or construction
    • Strong working knowledge of  AutoCAD, Rebar CAD, Blue Beam and MS Office
    • Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, electrical, production and mechanical blueprints
    • Understanding of general construction practices (specifically concrete construction)
    • Ability to work extra/ flexible hours
